During a recent moment of overwhelm I stepped out into Mother Nature and she held me so closely.

Hello lovely soul

How are you feeling as we edge closer and closer to the Holidays?

This time of year can feel like A LOT. Holding the weight of so many moving pieces can seem as though we are teetering on the edge of a very precarious cliff.

If I am not careful I can very quickly spiral into a cauldron of overwhelm, so even more than normal I find myself having to strip back. Strip back commitments, strip back expectations and strip back saying YES when I really mean NO, and then… when I think I have stripped all I can back… I have to strip it back more.

Do you need to strip anything more back right now? What is your heart-felt priority over the next few weeks?

While I actively avoid getting myself to the spilling over point of overwhelm… I do find it an important messenger. Overwhelm tells me when my body literally cannot process all that I am trying to pile upon it - it tells me I am carrying way too much to hold, and it tells me to pause and take stock.

Even though that pause often feels like the last thing I ‘should’ do, never ever has the stillness - a few breaths, a few moments to stop, a couple of notes in my journal - let me down when it comes to supporting me when I feel that fizzing sense of ‘too much to process’ in my being.

I often describe the feeling of overwhelm as a sense that my soul is being left behind. It is like my true self can’t keep up with the version I am projecting outwards.

How does overwhelm feel to you?

Your meditation gift

This week’s meditation has been specifically created to soothe and settle in times of overwhelm. It is an opportunity to pause, to take stock, to be… and even though the ‘to do’ list may well still there and unchanged at the end - I hope you can work through it with a little more ease…
