Such a beautiful conversation which sparked lots of insight for me. I rarely drink these days but Ellie’s gentle enquiry questions has led me to ask myself why I drank in the first place… and perhaps what’s now replaced alcohol in my life.

Ellie, I just love your energy and how your passion shines through every word. Thank you x

Awww thank you Kerry! Yes, I think this approach of curiosity and compassion applies to looking at many behaviours. Anything where we think: 'Hmmm, I'm not sure this is helping me but I can't seem to stop doing it' is the perfect place to get curious. Notice what we're feeling in the moment and what need we are trying to meet.

What an interesting conversation! I’ve been immersed in the wine business for a few years before becoming a mother, both as a wine blogger and as a freelancer as I worked with several winemakers. Despite of wine being part of my environment, I’ve never been much of a drinker myself because what drew me to this world was not the drink in itself but the stories and challenges of the people behind the bottles, especially female winegrowers. That’s probably why I had no difficulty stopping drinking alltogether when I became pregnant and since then, I never truly got back to drinking and that’s what naturally drew me away from my wine blog and from this business, though I’m still interested in the story part. But I’ve witnessed many of the things you evoked Ellie and I really appreciated the compassionate part of your approach. I think that the idea to pause and reflect on a behavior, no matter the behavior, is really what can help people make conscious different choices.

Thank you so much for listening and this thoughtful comment lovely, I really agree that the story behind so much of the industry must have a lot of interesting pieces — there is obviously a lot of history and culture in so much of it. Must have been a fascinating industry to be part of. I think so much of what Ellie speaks about is relatable in any areas of life isn’t it? xxx
