How are you feeling this week?

I am preparing for a trip and despite overwhelm threatening to take over in many moments, I am devoting myself to practicing slow and stillness. These busier times are truly when we need to pause more — it is an opportunity for re-patterning my default settings of rushing and pushing — and I am fully committed to that journey. As uncomfortable as it may be.

I listened to a wonderful podcast this week with Jessie Harrold and Asha Frost.

The medicine of transformative times, the miracle of rest, and being eldered by the living world.

It was rich in so many ways, but one of the things they talked about early on landed so strongly for me that I felt inspired to share.

Asha talked about Rest, and specifically the sentiment of RESTING INTO OUR POWER…

Now this is something that I have known for years, but somehow the words she spoke in this episode activated a real sense of KNOWING. Truly knowing — if you know what I mean?

We often talk about RISING into our power, TAKING BACK our power, RECLAIMING our power, EXPANDING into our power… but OOOF how good does RESTING into our power feel?

Not only does it feel good in my body, but it also makes sense in my mind. Having studied meditation and Yoga Nidra for many years I know the science behind it. I know that we can problem solve, access creativity, connect with our intuition and heal our bodies (amongst many other benefits) in a much more effective way when we are not in a state of stress and disregulation. In truth this knowledge has helped me anchor to my practices in times when I could easily have let them drift away. I love the magic and the mystery of life, but I also like facts and evidence and an understanding too.

When I reflect on the most transformative times in my life, thet times when I have received truly aligned ideas, or reached a decision that feels like a full body YES… always these have come when I have been in stillness, in restful practices — walking slowly, practicing yoga nidra or meditation, moving my body lovingly on my yoga mat, lying with the warmth of the sun on my body — these powerful shifts in my work and my being, have always come when I am in a pause.

Rest activates my create soul. It activates my inner wisdom and the whisperings within. It brings me clarity. A space to listen. To receive. It refuels my energy and gives me the power to take action in a way that feels nourishing.

So RESTING into power… of course.

This is where the magic happens.
