ALL THE INFO AND REGISTRATION

On to the show…

I have been observing and enjoying Sara’s work for several years now, I am fascinated with movement and the link between nervous system and our body and the work that Sara does merges these two together so beautifully and accessibly.

I always find such solace in her words here on Substack, her invitational practices and also her wider perspective of the unfolding world and how we can exist as humans within it.

I truly hope you receive insight and wisdom from this conversation. It certainly gave me much to contemplate and be with.

“For me, somatics and embodiment are about welcoming the full spectrum of ourselves without having to reject the parts of us that feel challenging to hold, or the big, intense, deep, wide emotions that feel like they might knock us down. It's an invitation, through practice, of meeting ourselves. To be alongside everything.”

Sara Duigou

This conversation is a rich tapestry of threads around somatics, the body, the nervous system, our current world realities and so much more.

“We're in this period of descent. We're in this period of polycrisis — as Francis Weller calls it the long dark. This period of massive dramatic shift in every single system that we have known for most of our lifetimes, if not all of our lifetimes. There is seismic things changing and it's undeniable.

We can't turn away anymore.”

—Sara Duigou

In this episode we discuss…

  • Sara’s current season of life - raising neurodivergent teens alongside following her soul work and going through peri-menopause as a neurodivergent person herself.

  • What somatic work is and what it means to come back home to the body and why Sara was called to go down the coaching route after years of teaching movement in different forms.

  • Why this work is so crucial at this time on the planet and how community holds the key to the onward path.

  • How Sara takes care of herself as a practioner, and some of her favourite ways of coming back to ourselves when we have lost our way.

  • The importance of safe space, and what it means to be trauma-informed in the world of coaching and space holding.

  • Ways we can hold ourselves through intense emotions and how to manage our stress response when we are in fight, flight or freeze.

  • And so much more…

“If something doesn't feel good, we're allowed to speak up and hopefully the spaces we're in build in the permission for you to engage with something or not engage with it. And I think that's the most important thing. It's this part about consent, whatever space you're in, that the practitioner reminds you that you are in choice with everything that happens in that room and that the person that's leading — just because they're the practitioner or the person at the front of the room — they're not the boss of you.

They don't get to decide how you feel or receive anything that they offer.

The offering back to somebody that they have absolute agency and autonomy over their bodies is a massive place where we all where we begin with the work of somatics and embodiment because that is how we begin to feel safe in our bodies”

Sara Duigou

Sara is a Somatic coach and movement practitioner. In her work she helps people who are feeling stuck navigating major life events to reconnect with their body so they can experience more self-trust, increased capacity and a renewed sense of possibility.
