Hello lovely ones,
How are you feeling today? How is your heart?
I am so excited to share this podcast conversation with you today.
is someone I have felt magnetised to since I discovered her beautiful writing on Substack last year. There is something so utterly unique and magical about the words she pours here. Words about Motherhood and Matrescence, about the body, about writing, about the natural world and the way we merge within it… and so much more!I have been captivated by her shares and have had the immense honour of sitting in space with her (virtually) twice now. Once when she invited me to talk about Human Design earlier on in the year for her publication, and once when we recorded this podcast.
I truly hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did, Layla is so generous with her honesty and it was also really fun to explore more of her Human Design chart and see how she has so wonderfully embodied elements of it without even realising.
“Part of my frustration was actually that I felt this void but I was throwing myself into trying to be busy and setting up businesses and doing all of these things… all of this stuff that was trying and scrabbling to find the other piece of me.
While it is a lot easier now because I’ve got older children, I also think it’s easier because I’ve found that heart work.”
— Layla O'Mara
In this episode Layla and I discuss how she weaves together the threads of life, motherhood, creativity, writing and honouring her energy, as well as her journey to discovering her heart work and the season of life that she’s in.
“I feel like I have this creative life going on the whole time, even when I put on a load of washing or cooking pasta. It’s not perfect and it’s not easy, but having that otherworld bubbling under the surface has been really helpful and nourishing.”
—Layla O'Mara
In this episode we discuss…
The season of life Layla is finding herself in right now; identifying with the daffodils, wild garlic and Spring energy as well as a shedding the ‘shoulds’.
Layla’s journey to her true heart work and what she feels deeply called to create in the world.
How she weaves together all the differing threads of her passions and heart work to birth her upcoming memoir.
Understanding the topography of our bodies and how the body holds the stories of our lives.
How having an understanding of her Human Design has expanded Layla’s awareness of her creative process and how to live in a more aligned way.
Layla’s non-negotiable self-tending practices and rhythms that help protect her energy.
The importance of trusting your gut and finding your own voice yet also sourcing the right people to listen to when starting on a writing journey.

Back in January, I had the honour of being a guest on Layla’s podcast, Beauty & Bone. In this episode we discussed how Human Design can become a map to our true selves. The episode is available to listen to here.
“What really interested me with acupuncture was how our bodies are a conduit for so many of our emotions and for so much of what we're experiencing in the world and how that's held in our bodies, processed in our bodies. I look at what I'm writing about now and what my book is about. It's about the same thing. It's about my body and the map of my body and the landscape of my body and what that has buried, what it holds, what the topography of it is in many ways.”

Until next time…
With so much love,
