“I find that living seasonally allows me to pick out when things were happening, and memories are very often tied to what was going on outside. I have found that to be an anchoring point and point of orientation, whereas otherwise the days blur together and are filled with a million different things, a lot of the same things.
It is the the seasons that really anchor me.” —Lyndsay Kaldor
Hello lovely ones,
How are you feeling today? How is your heart?
You might be thinking… why on earth is Lauren dropping in to write to me on a Saturday? Normally I publish my writing on Wednesdays… however here I am with something new and exciting to this Substack space. The first episode of my Podcast that I have recorded since my youngest daughter (now almost 15 months) was born.
I have been longing… no aching… to bring Unravelling back for months, but it simply wasn’t the time. It is now though.
I began this podcast back in 2018… and it has evolved and unravelled (of course) along with my journey.
You can view the back catalogue of episodes here if you feel called. There are over 60 deep and meaningful shares and conversations.
Unravelling is a sacred space for you to come to when you feel the need to be nurtured, inspired and witnessed in all the beautiful messiness of life. You can expect an eclectic mix of topics that include Motherhood, Womanhood, Soulful Business & all that is Sacred. The episodes are intended to be soothing and gentle, yet powerful and impactful, weaving the beautiful art of storytelling together with life lessons, practical tools and a little bit of magic too. The journey of unravelling has many, many layers, and each of us are on our own unique path. My hope is that the words shared in each episode will offer a spark of curiosity and a moment of resonance, and help support you in your own beautiful explorations.
As I rebirth Unravelling into it’s latest iteration — I am so excited to bring you this beautiful conversation with
Lyndsay has become a dear friend — we connected last year after we both started our Substack publications at a similar time, and found we had so many synchronicities and shared experiences that there was an instant spark of connection.
Since then we have co-created on several pieces of writing, including our ritual guide offering for Spring Equinox here, and have even birthed a new in-person gathering coming to London in April (the first of what we hope will be many). I find myself voice noting Lyndsay as though we were old friends (I am sure we probably traveled other lifetimes together) as we navigate Motherhood and writing round the edges simultaneously from afar.
I am so grateful for Lyndsay’s beautiful and gentle way of being, her writing captivates me, and she has a unique way of expressing so many sacred, and magical musings.
In this episode we discuss…
Our dance with ‘winterspring’ — both internally and externally — and the uncertainty that comes when transitioning between seasons.
How we have both honoured our seasons within Motherhood and how this has challenged and evolved our creativity.
Softening to the many different seasons (seasons within seasons) and how they can enhance our experience of life, as well as provide a beautiful anchoring point, particularly in Motherhood.
Lyndsay’s journey with writing, starting with her blog and evolving into her Substack Story & Thread — which is where we met — and how she has discovered the depth of community and connection.
How unseen Motherhood and Creativity are, and how inspiring it has been to see other creative Mothers on Substack.
A little more about our inaugural event for our collaboration Holding Stories, which will be taking place in London on 20th April. You can explore more here. We would love to share this with you if you feel called.
You can also listen to the episode on Apple here and Spotify here.
“I write to process, and note down this fragment of our lives at the moment. It helps me to make more sense of myself.” —Lyndsay Kaldor
Lyndsay is a mother, creative and storyteller with a background in interiors PR. Telling stories about spaces and the people who make them was at the heart of her role — this fostered her interest in the details of making a home and the part that our surroundings play in the way that we feel. Now a mother, she is creating a home as a foundation to nurture, a conduit of creativity and an anchor to her surroundings, as the seasons turn in her corner of the world.
Lyndsay writes the beautiful publication
which is one of my absolute favourite things to read on Substack. You can dive into her beautiful writing here. You can also connect with her on Instagram here.
Thank you so much for being here to witness the rebirth of Unravelling, I would love to hear in the comments if you enjoy this episode and if there is anything that surfaces for you when you listen.
Until next time…
With so much love,
Lauren
